"Oppertunity is missed by most because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work."
- Thomas Edison
Amen Edison!! I love this quote. It's so true especially in this day in age where we have so many conviences that we sometimes tend to whine when we actually have to do something more than lifting our finger. Okay, okay, I admit not everone is like this but it is becoming a higher fraction of those that are afraid to do hard work because they were never really made to do it before. Hey, I admit I really am naturally lazy and sometimes I give in but I know I must fight that natural feeling. It's not even nessisarly the childrens fault it's just how most people are brought up now. If Thomas Edison saw us now he would probaly pass out at the sight. We shouldn't pass up the most benificial oppertunities just because it may seem uncomfortable at first. Let's build up our character!

Quote #5
" The best way to find out if you can trust somebody is to trust them."
- Ernest Hemingway
I love this quote because it has the principle of action attached to it. Basically Hemingway is trying to explain that we should quite whinning about things and just act. Dont talk about acting anymore if it feel right just do it. Act on your feelings and try it out. You are never going to progress in character if you just keep sitting there evaluating and thinking to deeply about some thing it wont be of any use until you do something with your ending result. JUST DO IT, TRY IT OUT! We wont know if something will be good unless we just try it out. Go and do. Dont just sit and stew.

Quote #4
" Ideals are stars to steer by; they are not sticks to beat ourselves with."
-Barbra B. Smith
I can't help but say that most of my life I let my ideals be a stick to get me down. I notice that when it is a stick it not only beats me down but becomes a block to make a firm step forward instead I either dont move or I trip over it and fall... It just keeps me from getting anywhere and in result it hurts me more than it would if I would look up to the sky and just move forward when I get discouraged. I know that I need to be better at looking at the ideals that come and form in my heart and mind as a hope and a push into the direction that I need to follow to reach those ideals... my guiding stars. I know it really is easy to have things be shown to you that you may now want to become or things you may want to do and get down, overwhelmed and discouraged but all in all.... if we didnt feel uncomfortable and try something that is hard and new we would never progress. So I know I need to be better at sucking it up and keep going so I can be the woman and daughter of God I have always desired to be. I can be that. I have the power. I have the power to make my ideals stars instead of sticks to beat me down. So now, I must keep walking in faith.

Quote #3
" Around here, however, we dont look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doin new things, because we're curious... and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths."
-Walt Disney
Not only is this quote from a one of my favorite disney movies "Meet the Robinsons" but it is such a great principle to live by in our path of life. Life is hard. It is as simple as that. Yet, what is important to remember is that there would be no progression if we didnt have hard times. We would hardly learn any big life lessons if we didnt mess up and get disappointed. That is why I love this quote because if we don't stay drowning in self pitty and just pick ourselves up and keep moving forward how wonderful it would be. How much time would be saved that we could use to open up those new doors and experience new things. It's good to be curious. It's good to be seeking new adventures and hard tasks to fufill. We can do if we fail and mess up and just keep going. So what if things happen and they hurt.... if we keep moving forward we may be able to find something just around the corner that will make it all worthwhile. Everyone can relate to this. We all can find the beauty and joy of progression in the journey.

Quote #2
" Life is an onion, you peel it off one layer at a time. And sometimes you weep."
-Carl Sandburg
I couldn't help but love this quote. Yes, I know right off the batt we may not want to say that our lives resemble an onion of all things. For reasons typically because onions are stinky, strong and sometimes can be overbareing. Yet, the way that this quote compared it I couldnt help but smile at the reality that life can sometimes be this way. Its such a mystery in each one of our lives of how our lives will really turn out or what the next layer will be like for us. When we really come down to it, how will our lives turn out like and be like when we are old when our life here on earth is on its last layer. What will we have gone through? What will we be like? Would we be the strongest at that point? Being full of knowledge, experience and wisdom? It really is true sometimes things cut down deep into us, or squirt into your face and we do weep. That is the beauty of life... the beauty of progression and getting through hard times and seeing the light and feeling relief once again. Those times where we do weep are time for patience and growth... times of humility that we will never forget. Don't we love this thing called life? Though it may resemble an onion in the end it is something so wonderful and unforgettable.

One of my favorite quotes by the great John Wayne!!!
My first quote that I chose will be by John Wayne...
" Courage is being scared to death and saddling up anyway"
John Wayne not only can keep you interest in a classic western that will put you on the edge of your seat but he also can put things in the most simplest and wise ways. Of course he would be one to talk about such an applicable character trait. This is one he had come to be familiar with in the roles he had played for most of his career. I love this quote not only for its whit, or just... because it's simply said by John Wayne, but because it really does reflect how sometimes in life it really does feel just like he stated. You are completely scared at a certain point of time when a opportunity for practicing courage or and you are not to sure if you will make it out the way you would like but for great and honorable reasons you still stand up for, or do what ever you know is the best thing and actually do it. Ever since I had found that quote and were in these positions, I can't help but smile and chuckle and think of this quote and realize I need to just bare through insecurities and suck it up and practice what courage really is.

My Quote Project
For my Advanced Writting class this semester in my sophmore year in college we, as students, were assigned a "Self improvement Project". It's guidence was just only that it would somehow improve our writing and something to improve myself. So I figured... why not make a blog and find quotes that inspire me and write what I feel and hopefully someone else would get something out of it. I am very much a quote junky so I myself am very excited to do this. I hope someone else would enjoy as well.
